Glenkinchie 12 Years Old alongside Davidoff Grand Cru No. 3
A light Lowland malt alongside a mild Dominican corona. These are two partners that both bring little weight, so neither pushes the other aside.

From the shelf
The bottle
Glenkinchie is in the Lowlands, east of Edinburgh. This bottling is twelve years old, matured in oak casks and is bottled at 43% vol. In the glass it is dry and grassy, with citrus peel and a light malt sweetness underneath; peat smoke is absent.
The combination
Why this works together
A wrapper grown from Connecticut seed gives mainly wood and a soft creamy note, and little pepper. That note sits alongside the malty sweetness of the whisky rather than over it. Because the malt itself brings no smoke, the tobacco remains the only source of smoke.
Beside the glass
The cigar
We do not sell cigars; we supply the whisky. These cigars go well alongside this bottle.

- Davidoff Grand Cru No. 3 Corona of 127 mm under an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, equal in strength from start to finish, so that the light Lowland malt does not sink away.
- Ashton Classic Corona Dominican tobacco under an American shade wrapper, with the same low-pepper, nutty tone.
- Macanudo Café Hyde Park For decades the benchmark for a mild Connecticut cigar: wood and cream, no sharpness.
- AVO Classic No. 2 Also Dominican under a Connecticut wrapper, slightly longer but just as restrained.
In the glass
Serving
Neat in a tulip-shaped glass, without ice. At 43 percent ABV water is usually not needed; if you find the whisky sharp next to the smoke after all, add a few drops. Drink in the pauses between puffs, not through them.
