Bushmills 10 Years Old alongside Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva Chateau Fuente
An Irish single malt beside a short Dominican robusto. A soft bottle and a short smoke, for those who want to keep it to half an hour.

From the shelf
The bottle
Bushmills is in Northern Ireland. This single malt is ten years old and is 40 percent by volume; the colour is light gold. The nose is warm, sweet and spiced, with vanilla, honey and oloroso sherry; on the palate soft fruit, malt, spices and honey, with a soft, creamy finish.
The combination
Why this works together
The Chateau Fuente is short at 114 mm but wide in ring gauge. That proportion gives a full smoke in a short time, without it becoming sharp. Beneath the mild Fuente wrapper the tone stays woody and creamy. Next to an Irish malt at 40% ABV, which itself already finishes creamy, the whisky can be followed to the end this way.
Beside the glass
The cigar
We do not sell cigars; we supply the whisky. These cigars go well alongside this bottle.

- Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva Chateau Fuente Dominican robusto of 114 mm, short and creamy, alongside a smooth Irish single malt.
- Arturo Fuente Hemingway Signature Perfecto of 152 mm that tapers at both ends, with a more gradual progression.
- AVO Classic No. 2 Dominican under a Connecticut wrapper, low in pepper and nutty, close to the honey in the whisky.
- Macanudo Café Hyde Park Mild robusto with wood and cream, if the smoke may be a little fuller.
In the glass
Serving
Neat in a tulip-shaped glass, without ice. At 40 percent ABV water is not needed. Drink it in the pauses between the draws, not during them.
