Why here

Sixteen casks from a distillery you almost never see

Inchgower goes almost entirely into blends. If you want to taste this whisky, you have to rely on independent bottlers. We have fifteen, from five to twenty-six years old, plus the official fourteen-year-old.

If you are not sure which one you need, give us a quick call. That is what we are here for.

The official bottle and the younger casks

Eight bottles up to and including thirteen years old.

About the distillery

Built for the blends

  • Inchgower in five facts
  • 1871built near Buckie, as a replacement for Tochineal.
  • 1903the distillery closes.
  • 1936the municipality of Buckie buys it and reopens it.
  • 1938Bell’s takes it over; that tie still exists.
  • 1997owned by Diageo since the merger.

Inchgower is near Buckie on the Moray Firth, on the northern edge of Speyside. The distillery was built in 1871 to replace the nearby Tochineal and draws its water from a stream in the Menduff Hills.

In 1903 it fell silent. In 1936 the municipality of Buckie bought the whole site and production started up again; two years later Bell’s took over the distillery. That bond still exists: Inchgower is one of the pillars of the Bell’s blend.

Little is released under its own name. The fourteen-year-old from the Flora & Fauna series is the only one you will come across regularly. Everything else comes from independent bottlers, which is why we have so many in stock.

Almost everything goes into the blend. What is left comes from bottlers.

Older casks and finishes

Eight bottles, up to twenty-six years old.
