A gin for an ordinary evening
Not every bottle has to have a two-hundred-year story. Gibson’s is a neat London Dry at a reasonable price: dry, with juniper up front, and excellent in a gin and tonic.
There is also a pink version and one with blood orange, both sweeter and meant for long drinks with plenty of ice. Not sure which one you need? Give us a call. That is what we are here for.

What makes a gin a good mixing gin?
- What to look out for
- Juniper up frontOtherwise the gin disappears behind the tonic.
- Not too many herbsComplexity is largely lost in a long drink.
- Sufficient strengthBelow 37.5 percent it may not be called gin.
- PriceFor mixing it does not have to be expensive.
An expensive gin with twenty botanicals is wasted in a gin and tonic: the tonic suppresses most of those fine aromas. What you want in a long drink is a clear juniper and a dry, clean base. That is exactly what a bottle like this is made for.
If you want to drink a gin neat or make a martini from it, the details do matter. Then a bottle such as Monkey 47 or Hendrick’s is a better choice, and you keep the gin from this range for Friday evening.
The best gin for a gin and tonic is not necessarily the most expensive. It is the gin that comes through the tonic.
Frequently asked questions about Gibson’s
How much Gibson’s does ’t Bockje have in stock?
Four bottles: the London Dry in two sizes, the Pink Gin and the Blood Orange.
What is this gin suitable for?
Mainly for mixing. A dry London Dry with juniper up front comes through the tonic well; that is exactly what you want in a long drink.
What is the difference from an expensive gin?
In a gin and tonic, little: the tonic largely masks the finer aromas anyway. When drinking it neat or in a martini, you do notice the difference.
Are the pink and the blood orange sweet?
Sweeter than the regular bottle, yes. They are intended for long drinks with plenty of ice, not for drinking neat.
Does ’t Bockje also ship Gibson’s abroad?
Yes. We ship to around forty countries. Email info@bockje.nl if you want to know whether your country is included.
