Why here

Gin made from grapes instead of grain

About the gin

  • The other fiveJeneverbes, gember, kardemom, hibiscus en zwarte thee.

Nordés comes from Galicia, the green north-western corner of Spain above Portugal, a region with a rugged Atlantic coast that looks more like Ireland than the Costa del Sol. The name is that of the north wind that announces good weather there.

The base is unusual: not neutral grain alcohol but a distillate of albariño grapes, the white grape the region has become famous for. That base has deliberately not been kept fully neutral, so notes of white fruit and blossom remain.

Eleven botanicals go into it, each macerated separately. Six of them grow wild in Galicia: sage, bay leaf, mint, lemon verbena, eucalyptus and samphire. The last is a small coastal plant that gives the gin a salty edge. The blue and white bottle is inspired by Sargadelos pottery, which is made by hand in Galicia.

A gin that starts with a wine grape instead of grain. You rarely come across that, and you taste it straight away.

How do you serve Nordés?

Frequently asked questions about Nordés

How many Nordés does ’t Bockje have in stock?

Three bottles: a small sample bottle, the regular bottle and a large size.

Wat maakt Nordés anders dan andere gin?

The base. Almost all gin starts with neutral grain alcohol; Nordés starts with a distillate of albariño grapes. That base already brings notes of white fruit and blossom of its own.

Which botanicals does it contain?

Eleven, each macerated separately. Six grow wild in Galicia: sage, bay, mint, lemon verbena, eucalyptus and samphire. The other five are juniper, ginger, cardamom, hibiscus and black tea.

Where does the name come from?

How best to drink Nordés?

With a neutral tonic and three white grapes as a garnish instead of lemon. A pronounced tonic overpowers the blossom and the eucalyptus.

Does ’t Bockje also ship Nordés abroad?

Yes. We ship to around forty countries. Email info@bockje.nl if you want to know whether your country is included.
