The whole range, and a tasting set to compare
Malfy consists of four bottles that differ only in their citrus: the regular Originale, lemon, blood orange and pink grapefruit. We have all four, plus a tasting set with four 50 ml bottles.
At twenty euros, that tasting set is the cheapest way to find out which one you like best, and a nice gift too. Not sure which one to get? Give us a call. That is what we are here for.

Distilling without heat
- The brand in four moments
- 1906The distillery in Moncalieri is built for wine and vermouth.
- the sixtiesSeagram buys the company.
- 1992Carlo Vergnano takes it over; Torino Distillati is born.
- nowThe Vergnano family makes the Malfy range there.
Malfy is made in Moncalieri, just outside Turin, at Torino Distillati. The building has stood there since 1906, originally for wine and vermouth. Seagram bought it in the sixties; in 1992 Carlo Vergnano took it over, and since then it has been a family business again.
What defines the gin is the way it is distilled. Citrus peels are steeped in grain spirit and then distilled under vacuum. Because the pressure is low, the alcohol boils at a much lower temperature, and that is exactly the point: the volatile aromas of fresh citrus are heat-sensitive and would largely disappear in ordinary distillation.
The result is a gin that tastes distinctly of its fruit. The Originale uses juniper with six other botanicals and spring water from Monviso, the mountain you can see from the distillery.
Distilling under vacuum preserves the freshness of the peel. With ordinary heat little of it remains.
Is there rose in the Rosa?
No. Rosa is Italian for pink and refers to the colour, which comes from pink grapefruit from Sicily. There is no rose in it. Con Limone uses lemon from the Amalfi Coast and Sicily, Con Arancia blood orange.
Frequently asked questions about Malfy
How much Malfy does ’t Bockje have in stock?
Five: the four bottles in the range (Originale, Con Limone, Con Arancia and Rosa) plus a tasting set with four 50 ml bottles.
What is the difference between the four Malfy gins?
Only the citrus. Originale is the classic base, Con Limone uses lemon from the Amalfi Coast and Sicily, Con Arancia blood orange and Rosa pink grapefruit.
Is there rose in Malfy Rosa?
No. Rosa means pink in Italian and refers to the colour, which comes from pink grapefruit.
What does vacuum distillation mean?
That it is distilled under low pressure, so the alcohol boils at a much lower temperature. This preserves the heat-sensitive aromas of fresh citrus peel.
Which Malfy is best to try first?
The tasting set, if you want to compare. If you want a full bottle straight away: Con Limone is the best known, Originale the most classic.
