About the brand

About the Cornet glass

Cornet is a strong Belgian blond beer from Brouwerij De Hoorn in Steenhuffel, a brewery with roots going back to 1706. Today De Hoorn is part of Swinkels Family Brewers. The beer is named after Theodoor Cornet, steward of Diepensteyn castle, who had his own beer brewed in the eighteenth century.

What sets Cornet Oaked apart is the oak. In the past, such beer matured in oak casks; at Cornet, oak chips are added during brewing. At 8.5 percent alcohol it is a powerful blond, refermented in the bottle.

Besides the classic Cornet Oaked, other versions have also appeared, including a smoked variant and an alcohol-free version.

The Cornet glass is the brewery's own glass for this beer, with the name Cornet on it. A dedicated glass is meant to serve the beer the way the brewer intends, with room for the head and the aroma.
