An aperitif you finish yourself
This page is only about the alcohol-free range from Martini. Floreale and Vibrante are on our alcohol-free shelf and work differently from the ready-made mocktails that are also there.
You pour a measure of it into a glass with ice and top up. For the Floreale, the producer itself suggests 7.5 centilitres with 2.5 centilitres of apple juice and sparkling water, and for the Vibrante 7.5 centilitres with 2.5 centilitres of grapefruit juice and sparkling water. A 75 centilitre bottle makes about ten glasses that way.
What is in the bottle is not a distillate but wine from which the alcohol has been removed, with herbs and botanicals added. That is a different route than most alcohol-free gin and amaretto alternatives, and it explains why the label says 0.5 percent instead of 0.

Wine with the alcohol taken back out
- The house in four facts
- 1847Martini & Rossi is founded in Pessione, a village near Turin.
- 1992Bacardi takes over Martini & Rossi.
- 0,5%Alcohol according to the label for Floreale and Vibrante.
- 75 clBoth alcohol-free bottles; good for about ten glasses.
Martini & Rossi comes from Pessione, a village close to Turin, and has existed there since 1847. Since 1992 the house has been part of Bacardi. The alcohol-free line is a later addition to the aperitif range.
Floreale and Vibrante are not distillates. They start as wine, after which the alcohol is taken out again. That is done not with a filter but with heat under vacuum: at low pressure alcohol boils at a much lower temperature, so the aromas in the liquid stay as intact as possible. What remains is the dealcoholised wine base into which the botanicals go.
For the Floreale the producer mentions chamomile and artemisia (wormwood, the same herb that is in ordinary vermouth), among other things. For the Vibrante, notes of Italian bergamot orange are on the bottle.
Not a distillate but wine: made first, then stripped of its alcohol.
Why 0.5 percent and not 0?
Because dealcoholised wine rarely ends up at exactly zero. A distillate alternative that never contained alcohol often has 0 percent on the label; with a drink that was wine first, a small remainder is left. That is why these two bottles say 0.5 percent.

Dealcoholised or non-alcoholic distillate?
Three different things sit mixed together on the alcohol-free shelf, and that is the question we get most often at the counter.
Dealcoholised drinks. First an ordinary alcoholic drink is made (beer or wine), after which the alcohol is taken out again. This can be done with vacuum distillation, reverse osmosis or a spinning cone. Floreale and Vibrante belong here.
Alcohol-free distillate alternatives. No alcohol has ever been in these. The flavour comes from herbs and botanicals processed without alcohol as a carrier: distilling on water, or macerating and extracting and then blending those extracts.
Ready-made mocktails. The drink is already mixed and comes in a single-serve bottle; you do not need to add anything. Everything is on the same alcohol-free shelf in our shop.
Frequently asked questions about the alcohol-free Martini
Which alcohol-free Martini does ’t Bockje have in stock?
Two 75-centilitre bottles: the Martini Floreale and the Martini Vibrante.
Can I drink Floreale or Vibrante straight from the bottle?
They are meant to be topped up. For the Floreale the producer suggests 7.5 centilitres with 2.5 centilitres of apple juice and sparkling water, and for the Vibrante 7.5 centilitres with 2.5 centilitres of grapefruit juice and sparkling water, both over ice.
How much alcohol does it contain?
0.5 percent according to the label information in our webshop, for both bottles.
Why does it say 0.5 percent and not 0?
Because it is not a distillate but wine from which the alcohol has been removed. A small residue remains in that process. Alternatives that never contained alcohol are usually at 0 percent.
What is the difference between Floreale and Vibrante?
The recipe. For the Floreale, the producer names botanicals including chamomile and artemisia; for the Vibrante, the bottle mentions notes of Italian bergamot orange.
Where does Martini come from?
From Pessione, a village near Turin in Italy. Martini & Rossi has been based there since 1847 and has been part of Bacardi since 1992.
