Ingredients

  • 500 grams boneless chicken thighs
  • 6 tablespoons ketjap manis
  • 400 grams green beans
  • 4 eggs
  • 300 grams rice
  • 100 grams prawn crackers
  • 1 tablespoon sambal oelek
  • fried onions

Method

  1. Cook the rice according to the packet instructions.
  2. Cut the chicken thighs into pieces and brown them all over in oil.
  3. Add the ketjap manis and simmer gently for 10 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce is syrupy.
  4. Cook the green beans for 5 minutes, drain them and stir-fry briefly with the sambal.
  5. Hard-boil the eggs for 9 minutes, then peel and halve them.
  6. Serve everything in small bowls with prawn crackers and fried onions.

Method

  1. Take the cheese out of the fridge about an hour before serving; that brings out the flavour best.
  2. Only cut or break the cheese just before serving.

  • 1 roll of puff pastry
  • 100 grams of grated aged cheese
  • 1 egg

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 °C.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry and brush it with some of the beaten egg.
  3. Sprinkle the cheese over one half, fold the other half over it and press lightly.
  4. Cut into strips about one centimetre wide and twist each strip a few times around its axis.
  5. Place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper, brush with the rest of the egg and bake for 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
