Why you will find oude jenevers here

Oude genever is the product the Netherlands is known for, and we have a sizeable shelf for it. From young-bottled to long cask-aged, so you can choose how full-bodied you want it.

Old and young refer to the recipe, not to the age of the bottle. The old style is the traditional one: made with a larger proportion of malt wine, which makes the jenever fuller, softer and more grain-forward.
Malt wine is the distillate of malted grains, usually rye, barley and corn. The higher the share, the more pronounced the grain character.
Much old genever then matures further in an oak cask. That gives colour, vanilla and softness. If a number of years is stated on the bottle, it really is about maturation.
