Why here

Three distilleries in one bottle

Hibiki is a blend of malt from Yamazaki and Hakushu with grain whisky from Chita. These three each have a very different character, and bringing them together is what this bottle is about. Hibiki means resonance.

The twenty-one-year-old is one of the most awarded blends in the world and is getting harder and harder to find. Not sure which one you need? Give us a call. That is what we are here for.

About the brand

Twenty-four plots, twenty-four seasons

  • The brand in brief
  • 1989Hibiki appears for Suntory’s ninetieth anniversary.
  • YamazakiMalt: full and fruity.
  • HakushuMalt: fresh and lightly smoky.
  • ChitaGrain whisky: the soft base that connects the two.

Hibiki came out in 1989, composed by Keizo Saji on the occasion of Suntory’s ninetieth anniversary. The idea was a blend that would not imitate the Scottish taste but would express its own, Japanese idea of harmony. The name means resonance.

The whisky comes from three distilleries of the same house: the full malt of Yamazaki, the fresh malt of Hakushu and the soft grain whisky of Chita, which binds the two together. It is matured in, among other things, mizunara, the Japanese oak that gives sandalwood and incense.

The bottle is as famous as its contents: twenty-four facets, after the twenty-four seasons into which the old Japanese calendar divides the year.

The twenty-one-year-old has been named the best blended whisky in the world several times.
