Method
- Haal de kaas en de worst een half uur van tevoren uit de koelkast.
- Snijd de kaas in plakken of blokjes, de worst in dunne plakjes en het stokbrood in schijven.
- Put everything on a board with the olives, the nuts and a small bowl of mustard.

- Take the cheese out of the fridge about an hour before serving; that brings out the flavour best.
- Only cut or break the cheese just before serving.

Method
- Heat the frying oil to 180 °C.
- Fry the bitterballen for 4 to 5 minutes until golden brown and piping hot all the way through.
- Drain on kitchen paper and serve immediately with mustard.

Westmalle ligt in de Belgische provincie Antwerpen. De monniken van de Onze-Lieve-Vrouwabdij brouwen met water dat zij van zo'n 60 meter diepte oppompen uit de Diestiaanlaag in de bodem onder de abdij. Het bier wordt binnen de abdijmuren gebrouwen, onder toezicht van de kloostergemeenschap, en krijgt na het bottelen een tweede gisting in de fles.
De Westmalle bieren zijn wereldberoemd en worden door kenners beschouwd als de beste trappistenbieren ter wereld. Elke fles heeftzijn eigen unieke smaak en aroma, maar allemaal hebben ze die kenmerkende Westmalle-kwaliteit die zogeliefd is bij bierliefhebbersover de hele wereld.
