What is needed

Main courseHachee with red cabbage
Ingredients
- 800 grams braising steak
- 500 grams onions
- 2 bay leaves
- 4 cloves
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 500 grams red cabbage
- 1 apple
- 1 kilo potatoes
Method
- Cut the braising steak into pieces, sprinkle with salt and pepper and brown all over in butter.
- Add the onions in rings and fry them for 10 minutes until soft and golden brown.
- Add water until the meat is just covered, add the bay leaf, cloves and vinegar and simmer everything gently for 3 hours.
- Gently stew the red cabbage with the apple, cut into pieces, and a splash of water for 30 to 40 minutes.
- Boil the potatoes in salted water for 20 minutes until done and serve with the hachee and the red cabbage.

Ingredients
- 160 grams aged Gouda
Method
- Take the cheese out of the fridge about an hour before serving; that brings out the flavour best.
- Only cut or break the cheese just before serving.
Before the meal or with drinksPâté de campagne with gherkins
Ingredients
- 200 grams pâté de campagne
- 100 grams gherkins
- 1 baguette
Method
- Take the pâté out of the fridge a quarter of an hour before serving.
- Slice the pâté and cut the baguette into rounds.
- Serve on a board with the gherkins.
