About this bottle

Scheldebrouwerij Giftpack Bier in Balans met Glas contains four beers from the Scheldebrouwerij and a matching Schelde glass: Zeezuiper, Lamme Goedzak, Dulle Griet and Hop Ruiter. Zeezuiper is an 8% tripel that won bronze at the World Beer Cup in the United States. Lamme Goedzak is a 7% blond beer, Dulle Griet a dark dubbel of 6.5% and Hop Ruiter a hoppy tripel of 8%. The brewery does not pasteurise its beers and lets them referment in the bottle.

The Scheldebrouwerij started in 1994 in a rented part of a shed in 's-Gravenpolder in Zeeland, set up by home brewers from the area around Bergen op Zoom; later the Ooms brothers became the owners. When space became too tight, the brewery moved to Meer, just across the border in Belgium, next to the Bierparadijs. There was more room there, the rent was lower, and the label could say 'Brewed in Belgium'.

Ingredients

400 grams of cheese in three or four varieties
200 grams of dry sausage
100 grams of olives
1 baguette
100 grams of nuts
2 tablespoons of mustard

Method

Take the cheese and sausage out of the fridge half an hour beforehand.
Cut the cheese into slices or cubes, the sausage into thin slices and the baguette into slices.
Put everything on a board with the olives, the nuts and a small bowl of mustard.

160 grams of matured Gouda

Method

Take the cheese out of the fridge about an hour before serving; that brings out the flavour best.
Only cut or break the cheese just before serving.

Ingredients

12 bitterballen
mustard

Method

Heat the frying oil to 180 °C.
Fry the bitterballen for 4 to 5 minutes until golden brown and piping hot all the way through.
Drain on kitchen paper and serve immediately with mustard.
