- 200 gram droge worst
- 100 grams of olives
- 1 baguette
- 100 gram noten
- 2 tablespoons of mustard
Method
- Haal de kaas en de worst een half uur van tevoren uit de koelkast.
- Snijd de kaas in plakken of blokjes, de worst in dunne plakjes en het stokbrood in schijven.
- Put everything on a board with the olives, the nuts and a small bowl of mustard.

- 160 grams of matured Gouda
Method
- Take the cheese out of the fridge about an hour before serving; that brings out the flavour best.
- Only cut or break the cheese just before serving.

Method
- Heat the frying oil to 180 °C.
- Fry the bitterballen for 4 to 5 minutes until golden brown and piping hot all the way through.
- Drain on kitchen paper and serve immediately with mustard.

De naam Hertog Jan verwijst naar Jan Primus, een hertog van Brabant uit de dertiende eeuw. Hij stond bekend om zijn liefde voor vechten, vrouwen en bier. De brouwerij zelf begon in 1915 als De Vriendschap, opgericht door vier bevriende brouwers. In 2015-2016 werd Hertog Jan uitgeroepen tot Product van het Jaar, en de campagne Uit Liefde voor Bier zette de brouwmeesters achter het merk in de schijnwerpers.
