Why this works together

Chosen on the basis of the type (whisky) and the country of origin (United States). Bourbon and other American whiskey often have notes of vanilla and caramel from the oak; that suits barbecue and desserts with nuts and caramel.

A cigar with Koval Four Grain

Cigars
Our choice

My Father Le Bijou 1922 Petit Robusto

Why this works together

A petit robusto is short and thick: a lot of smoke in little time, so the cigar shows its full tone straight away instead of building up gradually. My Father works with Nicaraguan tobacco and a dark wrapper, which gives black pepper and sweet wood. At 50.5 percent by volume this bourbon has enough alcohol to answer that pepper; with a lighter bottle this would be too much.

Also good with this whisky

  • Oliva Serie V Double RobustoRobusto of 124 mm, just as full but longer, for those who have more time.
  • Rocky Patel Sungrown RobustoSlightly lighter in tone, which gives the caramel in the bourbon more room.

We do not sell cigars; we supply the whisky.
