About this bottle

Hoegaarden Radler Lemon 2% is a mixed drink of Hoegaarden witbier with lemon and lime juice of natural origin, at 2% vol in a 30 cl bottle. The radler came onto the market in 2015 under the name Lemon & Lime and is now simply called Lemon. The beer behind the mix is top-fermented, just like the regular witbier from the same Belgian village.

That base comes from Hoegaarden, in Flemish Brabant close to Tienen. The village brewed witbier for centuries, until the last brewery closed in 1957. In 1966 milkman Pierre Celis brought the style back, in a barn opposite his house. In 1979 his brewery moved to a former distillery and lemonade factory, a fitting place for a company that now also makes beer with fruit juice. Brouwerij De Kluis is now part of AB InBev and still stands in Hoegaarden.

Hoegaarden Radler is a witbier combined with lemon/lime juice. This combination makes a deliciously refreshing beer. This variant used to be called Lemon & Lime.

Why this works together

What is needed

Main courseTacos with grilled meat and lime

Ingredients

500 grams of steak or chicken thigh
12 corn tortillas
2 limes
1 red onion
1 avocado
1 bunch of coriander
200 grams of salsa

Method

Grate the zest of one lime, squeeze it and marinate the meat in it with oil, salt and pepper for 20 minutes.
Finely chop the red onion, slice the avocado and pick the coriander leaves.
Grill steak for 2 to 3 minutes per side, chicken thigh for 5 to 6 minutes per side until cooked through.
Let the meat rest for 5 minutes and cut it into strips.
Briefly warm the tortillas in a dry pan.
Fill the tortillas with meat, avocado, onion, salsa and coriander and serve with wedges of the second lime.

Ingredients

160 grams of gorgonzola dolce

Method

Take the cheese out of the fridge about an hour before serving; that brings out the flavour best.
Only cut or break the cheese just before serving.

Ingredients

200 grams of tortilla chips
2 avocados
1 lime
1 tomato
1 red onion

Method

Cut the red onion and the tomato into small cubes.
Mash the flesh of the avocados with the juice of the lime and a pinch of salt.
Stir in the onion and the tomato and season with pepper.
Serve the guacamole straight away in a bowl with the tortilla chips alongside.
