Method
- Haal de kaas en de worst een half uur van tevoren uit de koelkast.
- Snijd de kaas in plakken of blokjes, de worst in dunne plakjes en het stokbrood in schijven.

- Take the cheese out of the fridge about an hour before serving; that brings out the flavour best.
- Only cut or break the cheese just before serving.

- Heat the frying oil to 180 °C.
- Fry the bitterballen for 4 to 5 minutes until golden brown and piping hot all the way through.

Santa Maria al Monte Elixir di Caffè Giftbox is de koffielikeur van Santa Maria al Monte in een fles van 70 cl met 30% vol, verpakt in een geschenkdoos. De likeur is een infusie van uitsluitend arabicabonen, gebrand op de manier van een Italiaanse espresso. De doos is het verschil met de losse fles en maakt deze uitvoering geschikt om te geven.

Caffo, de maker, is van oorsprong een stokerij. Oprichter Giuseppe Caffo distilleerde in het begin vooral druivendroesem van wijnmakers rond de Etna. Later breidde het bedrijf uit met een distilleerderij in Friuli die zich op grappa toelegt, en met een eigen fabriek voor de verwerking van Calabrisch zoethout. Ook de likeuren van Santa Maria al Monte komen uit dit familiebedrijf.
De haven van Genua was in de 17e eeuw een van de eerste Europese havens die koffie van het Arabisch Schiereiland ontving.
