With the mealSmoked eel on rye bread
Ingredients
- 300 grams smoked eel
- 8 slices of rye bread
- 30 grams butter
- 1 lemon
- 1 bunch of chives
- horseradish to taste
Method
- Take the eel out of the fridge a quarter of an hour before serving, remove the skin and bones and divide it into pieces.
- Spread the slices of rye bread with butter and place the eel on top.
- Grate some horseradish over it, sprinkle with finely snipped chives and serve with lemon wedges.
With the cheeseMature cheddar
Ingredients
- 160 grams mature cheddar
Method
- Take the cheese out of the fridge about an hour before serving; that brings out the flavour best.
- Only cut or break the cheese just before serving.
After the mealSmoked almonds
Ingredients
- 150 grams smoked almonds
Method
- Toast the almonds in a dry pan for 2 to 3 minutes so they are crisp and fragrant again.
- Leave them to cool until lukewarm.
- Serve in a small bowl.

Volgens de omschrijving zitten erin: Bw8, Lp11 en Cl13, waarvan de lettercodes verwijzen naar Bowmore, Laphroaig en Caol Ila, aangevuld met Peat Pure Islay en Peat Full Proof. Zo staan whisky's van afzonderlijke distilleerderijen en blends met whisky van het hele eiland naast elkaar.

Achter Elements of Islay staat Elixir Distillers, het bottelbedrijf van de broers Sukhinder en Rajbir Singh, die ook The Whisky Exchange oprichtten. Zij stoken de whisky niet zelf, maar kopen vaten bij distilleerderijen op Islay en stellen daar sinds 2006 eigen bottelingen uit samen. Master blender Oliver Chilton noemt de reeks de plek waar het bedrijf met Islay-whisky speelt. Daarnaast bouwde het bedrijf aan een eigen distilleerderij, Portintruan, tussen Port Ellen en Laphroaig.
