We keep one of the widest drinks ranges in the Netherlands, in a family business on the Brink in Bathmen. For dubbels, that means not three or four choices but 12.
The dubbel has ended up in the shadow of the tripel, while with a wintry meal it is often the better beer. We therefore keep a separate row of them.

This name, too, comes from the abbey breweries, where the number of marks on the cask indicated the strength. A dubbel sits between the ordinary table beers and the tripel.
The colour comes from dark malt and often from candi sugar, which provides both sweetness and depth of colour. Expect raisin, plum, caramel and a light spiciness from the yeast.
A dubbel goes well with stews, old cheese and everything that has been on the stove for a long time.
