What is a quadrupel?

The term is younger than tripel and dubbel and is not protected. It refers to the strongest dark top-fermented beers, with plenty of residual sweetness and a high alcohol content.
What you taste: dark fruit, dates, caramel, often a light note of liquorice or chocolate. The alcohol content brings warmth to the finish.
A quadrupel can be kept for years. Store it upright, cool and dark; the yeast then sinks to the bottom and the beer becomes rounder.

Can you keep a quadrupel?
Yes. Thanks to the high alcohol content and the refermentation in the bottle, these beers become rounder and deeper over the years. Store the bottle upright in a cool, dark place; then pour it carefully so that the yeast stays at the bottom.
