Why you will find pilsners here
We keep one of the widest drinks ranges in the Netherlands, in a family business on the Brink in Bathmen. For pilsners, that means not three or four choices but 38.
Pilsner is the beer that sells the most and gets the least thought. Alongside the well-known brands, we also stock German and Czech pilsners, because that is where the difference lies.

The style comes from Plzeň in Bohemia, where a clear, pale, bottom-fermented beer was brewed for the first time in 1842. Its clarity was new: until then beer had almost always been cloudy and dark.
Bottom fermentation means the yeast works at a low temperature and sinks to the bottom. This gives a cleaner, crisper beer than top fermentation.
A Czech pilsner is fuller and more bready, a German pils drier and more bitter; a Dutch pils usually sits somewhere in between.
