Why you will find French beers here
We keep one of the widest drinks ranges in the Netherlands, in a family business on the Brink in Bathmen. For French beers that means not three or four choices but 18.
France is known for wine, but the brewing tradition in the north is old. A small, distinctive row on our shelf.

Bière de garde means keeping beer: it was brewed in winter on the farms of French Flanders and Artois and then left to mature.
Expect a malty, copper-coloured beer with a light spiciness, usually between 6 and 8 per cent.
The style is closely related to the Walloon saison, but rounder and less dry.
